So not like the NY apartments we often saw on TV and in movies then Joe? Monica and Chandler couldn't have lived there, let alone live AND work there! That's some achievement alright.
I'm doing well. Been able to continue to do things I love for most of my life. I've written, produced and directed seven feature films (2-3 million dollar budgets) and I keep my hand in comics from time to time. I create visual effects for movies and TV.
Here are the links to that video of Bob's Party! September, 1993. In four chunks. I hope you enjoy seeing all of our old friends.
If you get a chance to put that "How To Write a Pitch" piece together, I have a series of blogposts that quite a few editors over the years have told me they've sent to prospective writers as a solid resource on the topic. Here's Part 1 (of 4): http://www.jimzub.com/here-comes-the-pitch-part-one/
Very cool. As someone who mostly has knowledge of Archie through the Riverdale show, it's not necessarily as concerning to me for having weird visuals. But this was much earlier than that.
Otherwise, all interesting stuff. Might consider a question for the future. Maybe I would love to know your view of more independent comic creators?
Okay, maybe this a whole article, but given your experience in the comic book field, what is the best path for becoming successful these days?
For context, I’ve heard some writers/artists with experience at both Marvel and DC say that they don’t really do their own indie comics because of the effort involved. But that working for the big 2 has its downsides given the money involved and the creative limitations.
You tell a great story, Joe. I think you could get a job doing this. :) One question, which I think I’ve figured out: What’s a “railroad” apartment? Looks like you mean a long, skinny apartment like a train car.
Hey Chuck, it's exactly that. In my case, I believe that when the building was constructed in 1900, my place and the apartment next to me were actually a single unit that was split down the middle years later.
I got to visit you in that apartment when you did the cover for Bloodshot 0. I thought it was cool. You were in NYC! I was out in Jersey City. :)
I have some wonderful memories with you, Joe.
I was with you and Rubinstein when you showed your work to DC in 1990 or 1991–before you got The Ray.
I was blown away when you did covers for books I was writing—like Solar, Man of the Atom with St.Patrick’s Cathedral on it.
Watching you draw was special.
I called you and Jimmy to congratulate you when MTV covered you guys.
I never felt we got to be close, but I’ve always thought of you as one of the most genuinely talented and skilled people I’ve ever known and I love seeing the stuff you’re doing these days.
Kevin, I hope you're well, and it's great hearing from you. Thanks so much for the kind words. I still have that Solar cover, it's one of the few pieces that I've kept over the years. I feel like the last time we saw each other was at Layton's birthday party. You were filming the whole event and it was the first time I'd ever seen anyone use a camera stabilizer... I was in awe! Do you still have video of that event?
I agree about Dan DeCarlo artwork very original. Honestly never read a lot of Archie comics but everybody doesn't like superhero books. But Dan has very distinctive style. You see secret invasion yet? Or flash movie? Thoughts?
I saw the flash I personally thought flash was a good movie critics don't like it. I don't go by critics. Flash had some things I liked. Michael keaton Batman very cool. Cool cameos from George Clooney. Christopher reeve. New Super girl I liked. Not as good as when heath ledger played joker. Or avenger endgame Ezra miller I enjoy as flash. If you don't want to see flash at movies see it on max. Enjoy your day
Another great entry in this series, but if you think I was treading on dangerous ground asking about NY pizza, wait until I pose a challenge about rock 'n roll.

Loved this entry! I had never heard the story of how you met your wife. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for responding, Joe!
My Steadicam, Jr.!! I was on my way! :)

Man do I wanna see that Jesus vs Silver Surfer story

Thanks Joe for responding. That standee is fabulous!
Doug, If only I knew were it was today.
Just guessing, but I would suspect he might 😄 I shared it with him after you posted this and lots of laughter followed.
Uh-oh! Knew this psychic hacking thing would catch up on me one day!
Dave, you need to stop that right now!

Zach, I appreciate you challenging me, just know that whatever the answer, I'm always right.
I keep this reminder framed on my wall, underneath a picture of you pointing at me like Uncle Sam.
Thank you again, your slice-of-life are funny-formative-engaging-...for being so kindly transparent I think you're a good person... 😁👍
Tuco, thanks for the kind words. I have a ton more stories to tell, so thanks for subscribing and taking the journey with me.
