I’ll be at NYCC once again this year, CMP, if you happen to make it. I’m hoping not to catch Covid this time.

Thanks Joe. Hope to see you there if I make it this year.

Read about the guy who bought stock in marvel made a killing good for him. I like how you were honest about marve having financial problem. You appear to have integrity. That's a rare thing. It was interesting reading the old Stan Lee soapbox about Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby leaving marvel. Rip to Steve and Jack wonder will ai draw and write comic instead of actual person. Beware skynet folks

Thanks for posting Kevin. Personally, I'm not as concerned about the whole AI thing as others are. There are a lot of hurdles to crossed before it might ever be an issue, including some pretty complicated copyright issues.

Small world! I met Serge in line for the Fanfare panel. I hope he made it in before the cutoff as I just barely got in and he was about 15 people behind me. It was a privilege to finally be at a “Cup of Joe” panel after years of just reading the summaries on CBR back when it was a real website. I was so pleased to get an opportunity to ask a question and converse with the 3 of you And get a great answer to my question about style.

Thanks again! I’ll hopefully see you at another con in the future!

I can understand why the fan was so upset. If I had the money to do things like that, I would do it. I would also have a problem with things going downhill the way Marvel did.

But I'm glad that he stuck with it and is now benefiting from how Marvel turned around. Also that you're able to resolve the problem with him now.

Serge expressed his feelings honestly and like an adult. Unlike a lot of the stuff you see on social media that simply boils down to, "you suck," which shuts down any conversation. I'm always open to criticism and complaints as long as the person on the other end is willing to hear my side of it. Somewhere in the middle everybody learns something.

That's generally my way of going about things. I do look forward to seeing you at FanExpo Canada. Especially after reading stories like this and the other stuff you've put out here. Will be interesting to hear you talk about stuff live, if I can manage it.

Always amazing, thank you also for keeping this precious words for free. Also inspiring and actual lesson, for example I'm a comic artist on Kickstarter (once Palmiotti backed a project of mine 😁❤!) and there sometimes it's not easy to tell the truth about things didn't go as planned... But it's the best way, and backers were still there supporting and encouraging... Wonderful! 😁👍As usual, thank you so much!

Tuco, I've always found that being truthful and transparent is always the best way to deal with things. Sometimes the person whom your delivering the news to won't be happy, but they'll at least walk away knowing that you respected them enough to give it to them straight.

Remember the moral, kids: always buy stock in Joey Q.

(Footnote: the day you came up to Ike with that letter, I'll bet you regretted that 'no resurrections' policy Marvel had going.)

Zach, it's a good thing we're friends.

Great stories. Awesome job in handling the angry fan and turning that around. Just a request but I'd love to hear stories about how you have dealt with the negative blows and feedback over the years personally and how you've kept inspired at the drawing board regardless of those things. That's always fascinated me.... how artists who are generally more sensitive or intuitive stay focused with all the noise. Regardless thanks as always for the stories. Really fun and I always look forward to them.

J, that's actually a subject I'm hoping to touch on sometime soon. I have so much I want to cover in this newsletter that I worry sometimes that I won't get to all of it.

I hear you. Thanks so much though. Looking forward to whatever you do decide to cover. Take care.

Love these stories. About the tough times as well as the better times. Sorry that your daughter is haunted. (Not really.) :)
